  The Marchesi Girl

Mia Marchesi was raised by her dutiful Catholic Italian parents to be the perfect daughter, wife and mother. During her first unhappy marriage, she’s diagnosed with bipolar disorder that upends her life and the lives of those closest to her, including two daughters awarded to their ruthless father after Mia divorces him.

Committed to a psychiatric hospital, Mia bonds with an epileptic patient. Together, they flee to marry and have a son. When the boy’s father dies and her fitness to raise the child deteriorates, he is taken away from her to be fostered by her gay brother Michael.

Throughout her trials, Mia inexplicably acquires a faculty that allows her to intuit imminent life and death in others, and to regain a lost sense of self-worth in the process.
